Obituary for Mary Pagano Carpenter
Mary Theresa Pagano Carpenter, 71, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Saturday July 22nd, 2017.
Mary was born on July 1st, 1946 in Stamford, Connecticut. Her parents Anthony Pagano Sr. and Mary Pagano (Fusci) raised Mary in Stamford along with her older brothers Anthony Pagano Jr. and Salvatore Pagano. Mary attended school at Holy Name of Jesus, Stamford Catholic High School and Georgian Court, an all girl’s college in New Jersey. Mary resided in Southington, CT., Houston, TX, Saudi Arabia, Satellite Beach, FL and Melbourne, FL.
Mary was a teacher and later a social worker for many child welfare organizations including the Florida Department of Children and Families. After she retired she returned to Children’s Home Society, where she had been the Foster Care and Adoptions Supervisor, to volunteer. She was loved by her coworkers and friends, and was a mentor to many young social workers.
Mary liked watching TV, doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku, shopping, decorating, and watching her grandkids play sports, especially baseball. She was a Yankees fan. She loved spending time with her family and cooking for them as well as going out to eat with family and friends. Mary enjoyed celebrating cousin’s weekends with Midge Fusci, Christine Gennaria, and Joanne Shufelt and enjoyed visiting with her dear friend Mary Epifanio.
Mary is survived by sons Darwin R. Carpenter III (Lara Carpenter), Kyle Carpenter (Karen Carpenter), and 3 grandkids: Alex Carpenter, Will Carpenter, and Jamie Carpenter as well as her brother Salvatore Pagano and his wife Patricia, sister-in-law Ann Pagano, and many nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her loving parents Anthony Pagano Sr. and Mary (Fusci) Pagano, her brother Anthony Pagano Jr., her nephew Stephen Pagano, her niece Alicia Pagano, and her dogs, Hunter and Zorro.
A private visitation was held at Beach Funeral Home in Satellite Beach, FL. A private graveside service was held on 7/28/17 in Rockledge, Florida at Florida Memorial Gardens presided over by Father Francis from Holy Name of Jesus Church. The immediate family was in attendance with her sons, their father, and her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
A memorial mass will be held on 8/19/17 at 11am at St. Clement’s Church, Stamford Connecticut.
Memorial donations can be made to the ASPCA or your local dog shelter. Mary loved her 2 dogs and her rescued grand dogs. She shared that she would like to do more to help animals and had wanted to adopt another dog.
